Frequently asked questions
What does intellectual property law cover and how can it help my business?
Intellectual property law covers the protection of brands, products, copyrighted works, know-how and trade secrets. Properly set up intellectual property protection increases the value of your business and ensures that the brand and products you invest in are genuinely yours. At the Preegal law firm we cover both brand and product protection, licence agreements, trademarks, and compliance with AI legislation - AI compliance.
Can you obtain a grant for brand protection?
Yes. Through our IP Scan and IP Scan Enforcement service, we help entrepreneurs obtain a grant for brand protection. This support covers an expert intellectual property audit and the subsequent steps for registering and enforcing rights. We will guide you through the entire process, from the application to the practical setup of your brand's protection.
What should I do in the event of plagiarism or copyright infringement?
If plagiarism has occurred or your copyright has been infringed, secure the evidence yourself! As soon as you contact us, we will discuss the situation and, first and foremost, try to resolve it out of court. If that is not possible, we will represent you before the courts and authorities and actively enforce your rights. We also offer mediation services, which can resolve the dispute more quickly and at lower cost.
What is AI compliance and why does my company need it?
AI compliance means ensuring that your business is in line with current AI legislation. We draft contracts for the development of software and artificial intelligence systems so that your rights and obligations in the creation and deployment of AI solutions are clearly covered. This helps you prevent the legal risks associated with the rapidly changing regulation of artificial intelligence.
What legal services do you offer to photographers and creators of audiovisual content?
For photographers and creators of audiovisual content we prepare contracts dealing with copyright, licences, photo and video law, and the use of content on social media. We specialise in protecting copyrighted works and setting up licence terms that protect both your work and your income. We have a long-standing collaboration with professionals from the creative and photography industries. Our lawyer Pavla Nečasová is an active photographer and the founder of the fotopravo.cz project. We also provide training in photography law as part of our academy.
How much does trademark registration cost?
The costs consist of the administrative fee charged by the office and the fee for legal services. The administrative fee for a national application covering 3 classes of goods or services is CZK 5,000, with each additional class of goods and services costing an extra CZK 500. The administrative fee for an EU trademark covering one class of goods or services is EUR 850, the second class is an extra EUR 50, and the third and each subsequent class is an extra EUR 150 per class.
