A

AI in Healthcare

The use of AI for diagnostics, decision support or the processing of health data; often falling under both the medical devices regime and that for high-risk systems.

Annex I to the AI Act

A reference to EU harmonization legislation; AI systems embedded in regulated products (e.g., medical devices, machinery) are classified as high-risk under it, with a longer transition period.

Annex III to the AI Act

A list of areas in which standalone AI systems are considered high-risk, such as recruitment, credit scoring, education, law enforcement, migration and border management, and critical infrastructure.

Article 6 of the AI Act (Classification of High-Risk Systems)

The provision setting out the rules under which an AI system is considered high-risk, including exemptions for systems that do not pose a significant risk of harm.

C

CE Marking and AI Systems

A marking indicating a product's conformity with EU requirements; high-risk AI systems must bear it after a successful conformity assessment.

CEN-CENELEC Harmonized Standards for AI

Technical standards being prepared by the European standardization organizations, compliance with which establishes a presumption of conformity of high-risk systems with the requirements of the AI Act.

D

Deadlines for Authorizing Testing (90-120 Days)

Fixed deadlines that the Czech draft sets for the processes of authorizing the operation and testing of high-risk AI systems in real-world conditions.

Deployer

A natural or legal person that uses an AI system in the course of its activities without being its provider; the AI Act imposes specific obligations on it, particularly for high-risk systems.

DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment)

A data protection impact assessment that a controller must carry out for processing that poses a high risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals, often relevant to AI systems.

E

EC Declaration of Conformity

A document by which the provider declares that a high-risk AI system meets the requirements of the AI Act and other relevant regulations.

H

Harmonized Standard

A technical standard adopted by the European standardization organizations, compliance with which establishes a presumption of conformity of a high-risk AI system with the requirements of the AI Act.

High-Risk AI System

An AI system falling into the high-risk category under the AI Act, subject to strict requirements on risk management, data quality, documentation, transparency and human oversight.

L

Logs

Automatically created records of an AI system's activity that enable retrospective checking, auditing and incident handling; they are mandatory for high-risk systems.

N

Notified Body

An independent body tasked with assessing the conformity of high-risk AI systems with the requirements of the AI Act before they are placed on the market.

R

Registration of a High-Risk System in the EU Database

The obligation to enter a high-risk AI system into a public EU database before it is placed on the market or put into service, serving transparency and oversight.

Risk-Based Approach

The core regulatory logic of the AI Act, which classifies systems according to their level of risk into categories ranging from unacceptable risk (prohibition) through high risk (strict obligations) and limited risk (transparency obligations) to minimal risk.

T

The Czech National Bank (ČNB) in AI Supervision

The supervisory authority competent for the use of high-risk AI systems in the financial sector.

The Digital Omnibus on AI

A package of targeted amendments to the AI Act agreed in 2026, which in particular postpones the applicability of the obligations for high-risk systems and introduces new prohibitions. The aim is simplification and more time to prepare standards.
